National Hurricane Center says now a high chance of Melissa forming in the Caribbean this week. The tropical invest wave is looking healthy on satellite, and is set to pass across some of the warmest water in the entire Atlantic going forward.
The same questions remain of where is this thing going to go. Everyone from Florida to Puerto Rico and central America should continue to monitor the forecast. I think it’s premature to “rule out” any particular path yet given highly complicated steering pattern in the atmosphere. Notice the early spaghetti models, very little agreement where it could go once formed.
Good news risk of anything major to Florida is very low still. But interests in the Caribbean definitely especially need to keep watch out. We’ll see what happens.
