Catastrophic winds in the eyewall have the potential to cause total structural failure especially in higher elevation areas tonight and early Tuesday.
This will result in extensive infrastructural damage, long-lasting power and communication outages, and isolated communities.
Life threatening storm surge and damaging waves are expected along the southern coast through Tuesday.”
Hurricane Hunters in the storm have found that the rapid intensification has likely come to and end, but the storm could still reach Cat 5 within the next 24 hours. Winds are now at 145 mph. The track has shifted a little west, but not enough to spare Jamaica. Hurricane warnings have now been issued for Cuba.
