Join us as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5–9, 2025.
During Teacher Appreciation Week, communities across the country come together to recognize the more than 3.8 million public school educators who work tirelessly to support every student.
Teachers inspire our children to reach their full potential and they are shaping the future by helping students grow both academically and personally, preparing them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
This year’s celebration carries extra significance as it comes while Donald Trump and DOGE attempts to cut frivolous and fraudulent spending by cutting the bloat from the Department of Education, and allowing states to control their educational efforts. Hopefully this frees up funding for raises to teachers.
This week we appreciate teachers, who protect our students and strengthen our schools, and while many teachers are already seeing increases in their paychecks, but more work can always be done.
Our educators have typically been undervalued and underpaid, they deserve professional respect. Salaries, although increasing, are substandard, hampering a school’s ability to retain quality educators.
National Teacher Day began in 1953 when former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt proposed that Congress set aside a day to acknowledge the work of educators. Since 1985, National Teacher Day has been observed on the Tuesday of the first full week of May.
