A strong surface Low will be developing across the center of the country and the upper level low will travel east heading into the end of the week.
The cold front ahead of the upper level low will bring a high chance for showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast US with the main threats being damaging wind gusts and tornadoes. The SPC has highlighted areas west of the Chattahoochee/Flint river valley and the eastern Panhandle in a 30% risk for Day 5 (Saturday), which is equivalent to an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5).
The threats continue east into Day 6 (Sunday) with a 15-29% risk, which would be equivalent to a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5). We should also add that there is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Excessive Rainfall for Saturday into Sunday as this system could bring heavy rainfall.
At this moment, it is too soon to provide any more specifics. We will provide updates in due time as the system develops.
