National Weather Service Forecasts Slight Risk of Severe Storms for Sunday, June 8, 2025

Posted on June 6, 2025

We wanted to give a heads up going into the weekend that the SPC is forecasting a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) of severe storms for Sunday across portions of southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia with a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) across most of the remainder of the area.

The main threats look to be damaging winds gusts with impacts to trees and power lines, as well as the potential for large hail around quarter size.

The timing is expected to be in a broad window from Sunday afternoon into Sunday night.  A graphic is attached depicting the risk area.

In addition to the threat of severe weather, locally heavy rain is possible with the storms and isolated instances of flash flooding cannot be ruled out.  Widespread flooding is currently not expected.
