The National Weather Service has issued multiple cold-weather alerts affecting southeast Alabama and surrounding regions.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect this morning, with very cold wind chills as low as 16 degrees expected from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. CST.

An Extreme Cold Warning and a Freeze Warning will follow, running from 8 p.m. CST this evening until 10 a.m. CST Tuesday. During that time, dangerously cold wind chills between 9 and 15 degrees are forecast, along with a hard freeze bringing temperatures between 17 and 25 degrees.
The affected areas include portions of southeast Alabama, “Houston, Dale, Henry, and Coffee counties”, the Big Bend and Panhandle of Florida, and southwest Georgia.
The weather service warns that prolonged exposure to cold wind chills could lead to hypothermia. Officials also say frost and freeze conditions may kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and could damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
