Littering may be unlawful but it’s never acceptable to respond with threatened violence.
A 23-year old Gulf Breeze man is facing a felony charge after Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a road rage call in Destin Tuesday.
Caleb Mack is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
The victim, a visitor from Alabama, says it all started after Mack became enraged when she threw a cigarette butt out of her car window yesterday around noon.
When she and her family pulled up to a red light at Highway 98 and Airport Road, she says Mack pulled up beside her yelling, then pulled out a firearm with an optic and mounted light and pointed at her while her teenage children were in the back seat. She says she feared for their lives.
A BOLO, or “be on the lookout” call went out to area deputies from OCSO Communications. Deputies spotted Mack behind the wheel and made a traffic stop. He admitted producing his firearm but says he never pointed it at anyone.
Deputies seized a 9mm Glock with an optic and mounted light he had in his waistband.
