Sara “Linda” Fuqua Tyre, age 79 of Chipley, FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 11, 1945 in Montgomery, AL to the late Ernest and Malinda (Gardner) Fuqua. She married her loving husband Jerry Tyre on April 14, 1972. Linda was a dedicated member of Bonnett Pond Community Church in Chipley for over 50 years where she served as the secretary for many years.
While attending Bonnett Pond she enjoyed leading the Thursday Ladies Group and considered the members her family. Linda touched many lives being a teacher. Although she began her career in Holmes County, she spent thirty plus years at Vernon Middle/High as a Language Arts teacher. In her freetime she enjoyed reading, going on drives with her husband, and eating with family. Those who loved her, knew her as a loyal friend, a loving wife, mother, and memaw.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Fuqua, her father and mother in law Ervin and Lurene Tyre, the latter who treated her like a daughter, her brother and sister in law Jesse and Judy Tyre, and grandson Nolan Spence.
Survivors include her husband Jerry Tyre and children Christopher (Heather) Tyre, Mary “Lindy” (Brian) Brock, Sara “Cindy” Tyre and James “Jed” Tyre, her grandchildren Jamie Spence, Jakob Spence, Lance Newcomb, Ally Newcomb, and Alex Newcomb. Her in-laws Ophelia Fuqua, Joyce (Merle) Caylor, and Janice (JC) Gilmore and numerous nephews, nieces, grand nieces, and grand nephews that meant the world to her.
The Family will receive friends for Visitation on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 at Bonnett Pond Community Church from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 10th, 2025 at 3:30 P.M. at Bonnett Pond Community Church. Interment will follow at the Bonnett Pond Cemetery. Reverend Shawn Justice will be officiating the services.
