The City of Vernon, Florida Kicks Off Washington County Bicentennial Celebration on April 4-5, 2025

The City of Vernon will be having several events on April 4-5 for the Washington County Bicentennial celebration.

The activities will take place on Friday evening at the Shady Grove Ball Park as a kick off to the Saturday festival.

The parade for the County will take place in Vernon on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 10am with a day full of historic landmark activities to follow.

Watch for updates as the TDC gives us advertising to come soon. The parade will be BIG and those wishing to participate will have an application through the TDC.

There will also be vendors of makers, growers and bakers. The form will be available online soon. Please note the vendors cannot be resell.

For those that do not know the history of the county, please visit the website: https://washingtoncounty200.com/ or visit the Vernon Vernon (FL) Historical Society museum on Wednesday from 10am-2pm.

The original County seat was located in Vernon with a beautiful Court House located near what is now the city square.

The creek provided a trade route since most business what done on the waterways until the train came to Chipley.

We are blessed to be hosting this event and are excited about all the activities planned. Mark your calendars.
