It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Troy Johns, a beloved husband, brother, father and friend, who left us on March 11, 2025 at the age of 61.
Born on August 19, 1963, Troy dedicated his life to serving others as a warrant officer for the Bay County Sheriff’s Office before retiring nine years ago.
In his retirement, Troy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from fishing and tending to his chickens on the farm to watching Braves baseball and working in his cherished tool shed, often accompanied by his fury companions, Abbi and Darbi.
Known affectionately by many titles, including Renay’s “Honey,” father, bonus dad, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Troy cherished his role as “Poppy” above all. The laughter of his granddaughters filled his home with joy, and the sound of their little feet pattering across the floor brought him immeasurable happiness.
Troy was a man of honor and integrity, living by his words and valuing the strength that comes from the love for his family. He was gentle yet strong, surpassing all expectations as a provider, caregiver, and teacher. His love for Renay during her hardest season exemplified his unwavering faith, commitment, and loyalty.
A man of deep faith, Troy held onto his beliefs until his final breath. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cresko and Elaine Johns.
He is survived by his loving wife, Renay Johns of Chipley, Florida; daughter: Kendall Johns (Tyler) of Lynn Haven, Florida; step-sons: Seth Ward (Samantha) of Vernon, Florida, and Christopher Sammons (Tasha) of Panama City, Florida; step-daughters: Priscilla Welker (Daniel) of Chipley, Florida, and Naomi Ward (Thomas) of Panama City Beach, Florida; brothers: Ricky Johns (Pam) of Vernon, Florida, and Daryl Johns of Wewahitchka, Florida; sisters-in-law: Carol Goins and Pam Harris; grandchildren: Lucille, Ellie, and Emberly.
