US Weather Service Advises of Another Blast of Arctic Air This Weekend

Posted on January 28, 2026

We’re still keeping an eye on this weekend for another blast of arctic air. This will bring more hard freezes and dangerous wind chills, even colder than this week’s cold. Keep up with the latest forecasts as we approach the weekend!

A hard freeze is expected tonight across portions of the Florida panhandle, big bend, and southwest Georgia with overnight lows of 20-25 expected. Protect the 4 Ps: People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes.

Seeing some chatter about weekend snowflakes for the Florida peninsula. It has happened in the past. It will happen in the future. But this weekend? Models have been off and on the idea for some flakes. HUGE cold front is dipping down. Infamous 540 line drops south. Any moisture around that line usually tries to become ‘wintry’. Here is how it can happen. Gulf effect snow basically forms like northern lake effect snow up north. But much less. Interesting to watch. Yes. Not making any bets… yet.
