The US Weather Service advises that a cold front will pass through the Deep South this weekend.
The winter weather threat has decreased and probabilities for winter precipitation are now very low as forecasts for the system have trended north.
Due to this northward trend, a warmer and more unstable airmass could lift north into the region from the Gulf as the cold front moves through Sunday.
This could bring a threat for isolated strong, possibly severe, storms. We’ll have more information in the coming days if this strong storm threat materializes.
One day closer and not much has changed for us for this weekends weather. The biggest change over the last 24 hours is that trends have been leaning towards scenario 1 which would keep the wintry precipitation north of our area. But don’t let your guard down just yet! So what can YOU do now?
1. Keep up with the forecast. Things are changing and theres still room for shifts one way or the other. Although we are dialing in.
2. Keep an eye on any plans this weekend, even if no ice occurs the weather is going to be crummy so keep that in mind.
One thing that is certain is that even if its 65 and storming all weekend…It will get FRIGID cold to start next week. The arctic air will make it down here eventually and when it does we could see wind chills in the upper single digits to low teens.
