A DeFuniak Springs man is facing felony charges after a shooting incident early Wednesday.
Just before 7 am on October 8th, Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on N. 1st Street in DeFuniak Springs following the report of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with the caller, who discovered bullet damage to their vehicle as well as to a nearby shed about 20 feet away.
The shed was occupied by Travis Wayne Richards, 21, who immediately admitted to deputies that he had shot a gun three times the previous night after smoking marijuana with his friends.
Further investigation confirmed Travis fired a semi-automatic handgun while one person was inside the residence, and at least two others were outside. The rounds exited the structure, striking the caller’s vehicle and causing property damage. There are no reported injuries.
Richards was subsequently arrested and charged with shooting into a dwelling. He was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail and is currently awaiting first appearance.
