The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a short-term rental on Walton Way at the request of the property manager to assist in an eviction Friday night.
Once on scene, the manager asked deputies to accompany them into the residence for a walk-through.
One of the managers located a gun in one of the bedrooms. The firearm was collected and run through dispatch, revealing it was stolen out of Georgia.
Deputies also located a large amount of marijuana, digital scales, and baggies in the residence.
The marijuana and paraphernalia were seized and entered into evidence for destruction. The handgun was seized and entered into evidence as stolen/recovered.
Following the eviction, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle leaving the residence. A search of the car revealed a Glock 17 handgun and $4,800 in cash in a backpack. Deputies also located 27 bags of marijuana, each containing 3-3.5 grams of marijuana and totaling 94.5 grams.
Jacobi Kareem Daniel, 19, of Decatur, Georgia, admitted the marijuana, cash, and weapon belonged to him. Daniel was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, and possession with intent to distribute. The marijuana, handgun, and cash were entered into evidence.
Daniel was released on a $5,000 bond the following day.
