Temporary Closure of 6th Avenue at State Road (S.R.) 77 in Wausau
The week of Sunday, April 13, 6th Avenue will be temporarily closed on the west side of the S.R. 77 intersection. The closure is required to install drainage pipe beneath 6th Avenue and is scheduled to be in place for two months.
Drivers requiring access to properties on 6th Avenue will detour using 5th Avenue and Monroe Street. Signage will be in place to direct drivers through the work zone.
This work is part of the $56 million widening project and is scheduled for completion in mid-2027.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
