2. The Washington County School District has been awarded the 21st Century Rural Expansion Grant, receiving $500,000 annually for four years to support afterschool academic and enrichment programs for students in grades 3–8.

Dr. Contobia Adams from the Florida Department of Education recognized Jiranda White, Director of Federal Programs, and Jessica Glawson, Project Coordinator, for their leadership in afterschool programming.

The grant aims to help students meet state academic standards, provide a wide range of enrichment activities during non-school hours, and engage families in students’ education. Services include transportation, afternoon snacks during the school year, and breakfast and lunch during the Summer Learning program.
