An active Washington County warrant lands a 32-year-old Wausau, FL woman in custody following a traffic stop.
Just before 7:30 p.m., last night a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Fourth Ave. and Jefferson Street in Wausau.
The driver, identified as Joyce Marie Palmer, was taken into custody after deputies confirmed a warrant had been issued for her arrest for possession of paraphernalia. A subsequent search resulted in deputies locating a small clear plastic container with a crystalized substance in Palmer’s front pocket. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
Palmer was arrested and transported to Washington County Jail for the active warrant and possession of methamphetamine. During the intake at the jail, Palmer was also found to be in possession of paraphernalia which resulted in additional charges to include smuggling contraband into a detention facility and possession of paraphernalia.
