Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Evan Williams, 14 Years, for Terroristic Threats, False Reporting Planting Bomb

On October 29, 2025, at approximately 9:19 p.m., Washington County School District employees received an email making threats of a bomb being placed on the property of Vernon Middle School.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified and immediately initiated an investigation. Vernon Middle School was thoroughly searched and secured. Sheriff’s Office investigators continued to investigate the bomb threat. During the investigation, investigators were able to identify a suspect.

While obtaining digital evidence, a second bomb threat was made to the same school district employee. Investigators contacted the suspect, and during the interview, the suspect admitted to making the bomb threats.

A 14-year-old, Evan Williams, was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and is being charged with: • Terroristic Threats – 836.10, Florida Statute • False Reporting Concerning Planting a Bomb – 790.163, Florida Statute He has been transported to a juvenile detention facility.

Sheriff Kevin Crews would like to thank his staff for their hard work and dedication in effectively and safely bringing this case to a close. He also extends his gratitude to school officials and staff for their continued commitment to the safety and well-being of our students.

Additionally, Sheriff Crews wishes to express a special thank you to the community and parents for their patience, cooperation, and support as investigators worked diligently to gather critical information and bring this investigation to a successful conclusion.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office would like to emphasize that threats against our children, our community, and our schools will not be tolerated!
