An Altha, FL woman is behind bars and facing drug-related charges in Washington County.
At approximately 5:30pm, yesterday afternoon, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission initiated a traffic stop in Blue Springs, Econfina Creek Management Area located in Washington County. The 36-year-old driver, Loretta Lesha Swearingen who could not produce a valid driver’s license was taken into custody.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and K-9 were requested to assist FWC due to Swearingen’s behavior. A WCSO department issued K-9 was deployed to conduct a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. The K-9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and deputies located several illegal items.
Swearingen was arrested and transported to Washington County Jail on charges of possession of paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance.
