On April 16, 2026, a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle committing a traffic violation on Highway 79 in Vernon and initiated a traffic stop by activating emergency lights.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Merri Holand, and two passengers, all occupants appeared extremely nervous and exhibited labored breathing.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, deputies discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Passenger, Susan Diane Hudspeth, 66 yoa, of Panama City, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Hudspeth was transported to the Washington County Jail.
