INITIAL RELEASE:
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 10:12pm deputies responded to reports of masked, armed individuals attempting to enter a back shed, at a residence on Merry Acres Drive in Chipley, Fl. Upon deputies’ arrival, a red pickup truck attempted to leave the property. A traffic stop was initiated, revealing the driver, Jermaine Marks, 44 of Caryville and passenger, Antuan Odom, 43 of Chipley. Antuan Odom of Chipley was later identified as one of the residents and the victim of the armed robbery. Mr. Odom was bleeding from his left eye, had multiple bruises, and was handcuffed behind his back. Marks, the driver of the vehicle, claimed he had just arrived, and Mr. Odom jumped into his car asking for help.
Responding deputies and investigators canvassed the property discovering the main residence and an additional connected living space. It did appear there were signs of struggle in the connected living space.
Investigators contacted additional occupants of the residence, which were inside the main residence on the property during the altercation. Residents reported hearing a commotion and when they opened the door, a masked subject pointed a gun at them. The occupants of the residence then closed the door and called 9-1-1.
One of the homeowners provided CCTV footage to Sheriff’s Office investigators which revealed two masked subjects on the property, one subject with an AR style rifle. As the suspects fled from the property, three to five gunshots were fired. Moments later the footage showed Jermaine Marks and Antuan Odom returning to the area of residence and exiting the back door. Marks was then seen carrying two suitcases and Odom, still handcuffed, dragging a large clear bag towards the woods.
After the review of the CCTV footage, deputies and investigators searched the wooded area at the rear of the property. The strong odor of marijuana led to the discovery of a large clear bag containing a green leafy substance (suspected marijuana) and two large suitcases containing more black packages of the same leafy substance. A small clear zip lock bag with a crystal-like substance (methamphetamine) was also located.
The evidence was collected, resulting in the seizure of approximately 41 lbs. of Marijuana and approximately 2 lbs. of methamphetamine.
Antuan J. Odom and Jermaine D. Marks were arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail for the following charges.
Antuan J. Odom:
• Trafficking marijuana more than 20 pounds

• Trafficking Methamphetamine
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
