A Chipley man is behind bars and facing drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Washington County.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., on May 12th, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed a red Ford tow truck with a car hooked on it in the ditch near Jackson Place Rd. As deputies approached the vehicles they realized they were abandoned.
While on scene, a bulldozer arrived that was being driven down the road by 65-year-old Terry Gene Gilbert. Gilbert, who does not possess a valid driver’s license, was taken into custody. A brief search revealed Gilbert was in possession of a baggie containing a crystalized substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Gilbert, who was already on county probation for being a habitual traffic offender was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving while license suspended or revoked and for violation of probation.
