The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a teacher today on a
charge of lewd and lascivious battery, 2 counts lewd and lascivious
molestation, and 2 counts offences against students by authority figures.
31-year-old Joshua Donald Myers, a teacher and coach at Vernon
Middle School in Vernon Florida, is accused of having sexual
relationships with two students at Vernon High School, between
December 2021 and December 2022. WCSO Investigators say the
victims were 16 years of age when the relationship started.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified on August 27, 2025, of
the alleged incident and immediately began an investigation. Joshua
Donald Myes was placed on administrative leave by the Washington
County School District the same day.
Investigators say the relationships began with flirting and social media
texting, which lead to invitations to the suspect’s home. After the first
visit to the home, multiple sexual encounters followed.
An interview was conducted with Joshua Donald Myers. During the
interview, Joshua Donald Myers stated he picked up the victim(s) on one
or more occasions and took them to his house where they engaged in
sexual activity.
On August 28, 2025, a warrant was issued for Joshua Donald Myers. At
this time, Mr. Myers has been taken into custody and transported to the
Washington County Jail in Chipley, Fl.
