Posted on November 4, 2025

On November 3, 2025, a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Orange Hill Road near the Dollar General Store for observed equipment and moving traffic violations.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jerry R. Cone, 43, of Caryville. A check of the vehicle’s tag revealed it had expired since 2024; however, the tag displayed a 2026 decal.

Further investigation determined the tag was registered to a trailer that did not belong to Cone.

A check of Cone’s driver’s license showed that it was suspended indefinitely. After obtaining consent from Cone, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle.

During the search, deputies located methamphetamine, marijuana and multiple pipes commonly used for smoking illegal narcotics, that Cone had attempted to conceal.

Cone was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked on the following charges:
Possession of a Control Substance without a Prescription (methamphetamine)
Possession and/or Use of Drug Equipment
Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle
Attached a registration sticker not assigned
Marijuana possession not more than 20 grams.
