Water Shortage Update – North West Florida Water Management District Report

Posted on March 31, 2026

We’re resharing the latest update from the Northwest Florida Water Management District regarding ongoing drought conditions in our region.

The Water Shortage Warning issued on February 11, 2026 remains in effect, and there are currently no plans to lift or amend it in April. The District continues to closely monitor conditions and provide regular updates.

Current Conditions (as of March 25):

• Most of the Florida Panhandle is experiencing severe to exceptional drought

• Rainfall has been several inches below normal over the past four months

• Rivers, lakes, and streams remain below normal levels

• Groundwater levels are also below normal

💡 The good news:

There is no immediate risk to public water supply at this time.

Looking Ahead:

• A slight chance of above-normal rainfall is forecast for April–June

• Drought conditions are expected to continue, though some improvement is possible

NW FL Water Management District will continue monitoring rainfall, streamflow, and groundwater levels to keep our region informed and prepared.

We encourage residents to remain mindful of water use as these conditions persist.
