Georgia Woman Arrested on Traffic Stop for Drug Possession

On Friday, March 9, 2018, Officers with the Chipley Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a Grey 2017 Dodge Charger bearing for excessive speed on Hwy 90 within the City limits of Chipley.

 

Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle officers detected a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. When the driver was questioned about the odor a silver cup was produced from inside vehicle that contained marijuana.

 

In a subsequent search of the vehicle officers located items consisting of brown pill bottles with no labels that contained pills that were identified a Xanax and suspected ecstasy.   In addition, other items consisting of scales and baggies were also located.

 

The suspect was identified as Ashley S. Skinner, 28, of East Point, Georgia. Skinner was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail on the following charges:

  • Marijuana Poss. w/ intent to sell, manufacture or deliver
  • Poss. of a Controlled Substance w/o a prescription
  • Poss. of Narcotic Equipment

 

Chief Thompson states, “We will remain aggressive in drug enforcement efforts to protect the citizens of Chipley. I encourage anyone with information regarding illegal activity to contact the Chipley Police Department at 850-638-6310.”
