Taqarius Shemar McKinnie, 22, Arrested by Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office for Firearm on Chipley High School Campus

A Chipley man has been arrested for concealing a firearm at a high school basketball game.

Last night, on Thursday, February 2, 2024, WCSO deputies assigned to Chipley High School for a basketball game observed a firearm in the waist band of a male cheering his team on. 

Deputies quickly make contact with the individual, secure him and the firearm and escort him out of the gymnasium. The male was later identified as 22-year-old, Taqarius Shemar McKinnie.

Pursuant to Florida Statute weapons are not permitted on school property.

McKinnie was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of a weapon on school property.
