James was born on May 1, 1942, in Panama City, Florida, to Bernice C. Hagan and Mary A. Taylor. A lifelong resident of Washington County, James retired from Lehigh Furniture Company after many years. He loved to spend his time outdoors riding his tractor. Most of all, he loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bernice and Mary Hagan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years: Vivian Hagan of Wausau, Florida; son: Clark Hagan (Kristie) of Grand Ridge, Florida; daughter: Theretha Carr of Winter Park, Florida; brothers: Willis Malcom Hagan (Drucile) of Wausau, Florida, Roger Dale Hagan (Nancy) of Wausau, FL, Bernice Allan Hagan (Pat) of Wausau, FL, Ronnie Gene Hagan (Melissa) of Wausau, FL; sister: Ila Maynard (Archie); 2 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 9 AM Monday, August 24, 2026 at Obert Funeral Home Chapel (731 Kirkland Road) in Chipley, Florida with Pastor Shane Obert officiating. Interment will follow in Wausau Memorial Gardens. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation 3 PM – 4 PM Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Obert Funeral Home Chapel. (731 Kirkland Road Chipley, Florida 32428).
