Joseph “Joe” Pratt Duncan, 79 of Cottondale, Florida went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2026 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama.
Joe was born on January 26, 1947, in Chipley, Florida, to Bill Duncan and Bernie Lou Lee. He was a lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle and graduated from Chipley High School in 1966, where he played football and held the record for the most tackles on his team.
Joe was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida, and a member of United Association Local #234, Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. He was a talented painter who enjoyed drawing and creating metal art. Joe was also an avid Florida Gators fan. Joe loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Bernie; sisters: Louise Alday, Betty Sue Clark, Katherine Simmons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years: Glenda Duncan of Cottondale, FL; son: Steve Duncan of Birmingham, AL; daughter: Darby Robinson (Rob) of Jacksonville, FL; brother: Gus Duncan (Faye) of Cottondale, FL; sister: Margaret White of Chipley, FL; grandchildren: Shelby Robinson of Jacksonville, FL, Ryan Robinson of Jacksonville, FL.
Services will be held 2 PM Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida with Rev. Olan Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale, Florida.
The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
