Murlene Ward Sutton, 97 of Ponce De Leon, Florida passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City, Florida.
She was born on Sunday, August 26, 1928 in Holmes County, Florida, to the late Alchus Ward and the late Lillie McLean Ward. She was also predeceased by her late husband Alfred Ray “Mutt” Sutton, sisters Buna Carlise, Jane Sikes and brother Alchus Jr. “Bull” Ward.
Survived by 1 son, James Sutton and wife Debbie of Ponce De Leon and daughter, Cathy Hedbawny and husband John of Marianna, FL, brother, John L Ward and wife Janet of Ponce De Leon, FL, sisters, Mae Dell Jones of Panama City beach, FL, Aubrey Jean Byrd of Ponce de leon, FL, Geraldine Garney of Bonifay, FL and Joyce Johnson of Ballground, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Murlene was a cherished “granny” to 5 grand children, Jennifer Sutton, Michele Odom and husband Daniel, Logan Sutton, Casey Green and husband Cody and Melanie Kirby and husband Zach; 4 great grand children, Cooper, Caroline, Wilson and Mackenzie
A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Chris Carroll officiating. Interment will be in New Ponce de Leon Cemetery, Ponce de Leon, FL. with Sims Funeral Home Directing.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel.
