Wilmer Ashley Wood, age 85 of Panama City, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Vitas Hospice Healthcare in Panama City, Florida.
Born Saturday, May 3, 1941 in Defuniak Springs, Florida, he was the son of the late Wilmer Wood and the late Ruby Broxton Corbin.
Surviving is his wife, Sue Cooey Wood of Panama City, FL, sons, Bruce Wood of Nashville, TN and Ashley Lee Wood of Winter Garden, FL, daughter, Pam Clayton of Panama City Beach, FL, brothers, Thomas Wood of Cantonment, FL, Sam Wood, Julian Wood of Nashville, TN, Jeff Wood of Nashville, TN, Chad Wood of Ft Myers, FL and Brad Wood of Ft. Myers, FL, sisters, Gwen Byrd of Westville, FL, Faye Minahan of Pace, FL, Jacqueline Earls of Cape Coral, FL and Whitney Wood of Cape Coral, FL; 8 grand children; 2 great grand children.
Along with his parents, Mr. Wood is preceded in death by brothers, Steve Wood and Eddie Wood.
A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Moore officiating. Interment will be in Campground Cemetery, Westville, FL with Sims Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel.
